KDB RESTED FOR POLAND GAME

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne (KDB) was a major absentee forBelgium during the 1-0 win over hosts Poland in Group A4 of the ongoing UEFA Nations League campaign. Ahead of the game atStadionNarodowy in the Polish capital city of Warsaw, Kevin De Bruyne was rested after a long and hard season in the colours of club and country. The Manchester City midfielder has been vocal about playing UEFA Nations League games on the back of a demanding season. After playing 50 games for Manchester City in all competitions, Kevin De Bruyne was involved in all the three Nations League games played by the Red Devils this month before the Poland game on Tuesday.


Kevin De Bruyne could not stop Belgium from being thrashed 4-1 by the Netherlands at home in the first of the Group A4 games for the Red Devils. Barcelona star Memphis Depay scored a brace for the Dutch team, while Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries andTottenham Hotspur attacker Steven Bergwijn also scored for the Dutch team. MichyBatshuayiwas subbed on in the place of the injured RomeluLukaku and he scored the only goal for Belgium.

In the second Belgium game in Group A4, they came from behind to thrash Poland 6-1 at home. Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski scored the opener on 28 minutes and his goal was on the way to giving the Polish team a slim advantage at the half-time break before Borussia Dortmund midfielderc. Belgium thereafter ran riot in the second half with Kevin De Bruyne scoring one of the five goals. Apart from Kevin De Bruyne, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Leander Dendoncker, Brighton and Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard (brace) and Lois Openda also scored for the home team.

Kevin De Bruyneplayed for Belgium during the 1-1 draw against Wales in one of the third set of games in Group A4. Without De Bruyne, Belgium recorded a 1-0 away win over Poland in their fourth group game thanks to the winning goal from Beskitas striker Batshuayi.
