KOLO TOURE: I’M STAYING PUT

The veteran defender has declared his resolve to stay put at his current club till the end. Kolo Toure says his current club at the English Premier League, Liverpool FC is amazing. The defender has been in the frontline of rumors of being sold or sent on loan, especially since the arrival of Joel Matip at the club.

The Ivorian has vowed to remain steadfast in the “fight until the end” so he could prove he deserves a new deal with The Reds. The defender is expected to be released when current contract lapses this summer. Joel Matip arrived from Schalke on a free transfer and is set to replace the defender from this summer. On the other hand, Kolo Toure has refused to accept that he has no future at Anfield.

The 34-year-old maintains he would convince head coach, Jurgen klopp to retain him for at least another year with the club.

“I’ve not been told anything and I am just enjoying every second of being at Liverpool Football Club. The future is not the most important thing for me. What’s important is what’s happening right now. I’m in the team at the moment and I am showing every game that I’m still here,” the defender said. Continue reading “KOLO TOURE: I’M STAYING PUT”

Despite being dropped, Toure wants to stay with Liverpool

KoloToure has had to settle with a spot on the sidelines of Liverpool in this season as the African player has only managed to make 2 Premier League appearances for his club so far in their current campaign and for someone who is 34 years old, this is not the way that he would like to spend the last few remaining years of his career but the veteran defender has stated that he wants to continue performing with the Premier League club even beyond the conclusion of this current season.

““I would love to be part of JurgenKlopp’s plans going forward. At the age of 34 playing for Liverpool, one of the best clubs in England, it’s amazing. I couldn’t dream that I’d have been here right now and stay for many years. It’s beautiful, it’s fantastic.”

“You play at a higher level, everyone is focused. Everybody wants the best at training and the quality is high. That’s what I’m used to from the first training session, high quality and I enjoy it every time.” Liverpool’s KoloToure’s said.

The experienced defender has recently been getting more time on the pitch but this is mainly due to the vast amount of injured players in the team of JurgenKlopp which has forced the German defender on having to make rotations in his squad and having to utilize some of his back-up options. Daniel Sturridge’s hip surgery will leave him out of the pitch for the remainder of the season

Injuries have affected Daniel Sturridge way back when the English forward was a player of Manchester City at the age of 18 and it still continues to upset the amount of matches that Sturridge is able to play in a single season.

Sturridge in this season has made 12 appearances and he will not be able to perform in anymore games of the current campaign due to the hip surgery that the 25 year old player sustained.

The Liverpool player flew to the United States as he was placed under the knife and underwent his hip surgery and Brendan Rodgers as well as the rest of his teammates of Liverpool are hoping to see Sturridge back in action in the next season and hopefully avoid sustaining any further injuries of this type.

Sturridge spent time with the medical staff of Liverpool as the medical team advised him to take the operation as his condition was more serious than it was originally believed.

Brendan Rodgers has indicated on a few occasions that he does not want to depend on a forward who is as susceptible to injuries as Daniel Sturridge is and a new attacker is expected to be signed during the summer transfer window. Can Kolo Toure help Liverpool make the Top Four?

After a disappointing sixth placed finish last season, Liverpool are looking to finish in the Premier League’s top four this term. If the Reds achieve this aim, they will secure a return to the Champions League after failing to qualify for the competition in the 2014-15 campaign.

Liverpool opted to keep Brendan Rodgers as their manager and the club have strengthened considerably over the summer. While they were mediocre last season, the Reds are looking much stronger and could even challenge for the Premier League title if they bring another couple of players in at Anfield before the transfer window closes in September. John Heitinga has returned to his former club Ajax

Former Everton defender John Heitinga has returned to his former club Ajax after a short spell with German outfit Hertha Berlin.

The Dutchman is widely known for his exploits with the Dutch national team at the 2010 World Cup when they almost won the title. He played in the final against Spain that was narrowly lost by the Dutch. Since that game, however, his career at club level has been on a downhill. He has since left Everton and joined Berlin. He spent only one season in German football where he played 13 games for the club. There was also an intermediate spell with Fulham.

Faced by a lot of injuries as he approaches the final years of his career, Heitinga has decided to return to the place where it all began for him as a professional footballer. The 31-year-old started his career with Ajax in 2001. After representing the Dutch team for seven seasons, he joined Atletico Madrid in 2008. Apart from the spell with Ajax, he is best known for his time in Merseyside with Everton where he went on to make more than 100 appearances during the regime of David Moyes. The exit of the Scot made it difficult for him to impress new boss Roberto Martinez. Continue reading “John Heitinga has returned to his former club Ajax”

Jordan Henderson has been captaining the team for much of the season

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been captaining the team for much of the season due to the in and out nature of Steven Gerrard.

Brendan Rodgers has not been relying upon the legendary midfielder match this season. Hence, Henderson has had to fill in as the stand-in captain on more than one occasion. As Gerrard prepares to leave Liverpool permanently in the summer, concerns have been raised about the next captain. Defender Kolo Toure, though, says that Gerrard has taught enough to Henderson to be able to do this tough job.

After having learnt from the master himself,Toure says that Henderson is now ready to take on the mantle of leading Liverpool from here on. It is a far cry from the early days Liverpool for the former Sunderland midfielder. After arriving for £ 16 million, he was heavily criticised for his poor form early on. Yet, he remains as one of the much improved players at Anfield under the regime of Brendan Rodgers. Just as Gerrard gets ready to leave the club,Toure could also be on his way out. The former Arsenal and Manchester City defender is out of contract and there are no signs that Liverpool want to extend it.
